Newsletters
There will be newsletters which will feature various programs that have taken place and also different work from your children. It is a way of making sure that parents are aware of what we are doing during the sessions. It will also serve as a memento for the kids to remember different events. There will be pictures available in the newsletters.
Parents’ day
There will be a parent’s day where the parents can call in or meet up with us to discuss the progress of their children and any other issues. If a parent wants something put into the syllabus for KKC, we can discuss this and make it happen. If there is a problem with the way we teach something or have treated your child, please feel free to discuss with us. We are open to corrections and advice.
**God is the foundation in which KYAS Kids Club exists...so there will be a short prayer session at the beginning before we begin the day’s activities and at the end.
Punctuality
All children must try to be on time. No exceptions to this rule. Please parents work with us on this and ensure that your kids are always on time. We will NOT have all the other kids wait on any child to start the program, session starts exactly at stated times. So please let us all work together to avoid your child missing out on lessons. If there is a situation where the child cannot come in, please let us know a day ahead or hours before session begins, so we give their opportunity to those in line. Also if the child cannot be picked at the time when the session is over (and this can only be allowed under grave circumstances otherwise a heavy fine will be attracted) please let us know in time so that it can be authorized.
(Fine: N 500 for every additional 15 minutes)
Discipline matters!
Yes! We realize that this is not a school. Children will be directed towards better behavior. We assure you that your child will never be hit by either of us or any staff member, but there will be some form of disciplinary action if the child has done something bad. He or she will be put on what we call a “time out” where the child will sit out and not participate in the activity taking place for as long as we see fit. We will also call the parents and inform them if the case is more serious.
**There will be no tolerance for bullying**
Medical problems
If the child has any medical problems please let us know in advance. If he or she has medication to take we will make sure that the child takes it as long as the child is in our care.
Clothing
Dress throughout the day will be informal. However there will be cases where the child would have to wear the appropriate attire depending on the activity for the day. For example during sporting activities, dance classes, etc. There will be a session timetable that is given a week before so parents are aware of what each child will need to bring, wear, and possible homework.
Food
Please do make sure that the kids are properly fed in the morning during breakfast on Saturdays and for lunch on Fridays. We will provide snacks and drinks. Water will also be provided throughout the day. During programs that would involve visits to a restaurant, the parent will be required to provide the child with money to buy food.
